AN OUTLOOK ON CHENNAI CITY SLUMS
CHENNAI - 'the city of dreams', adorned by
sky scrappers, bungalows, posh localities
star hotels and educational institutions, has a darker side too. It is heartbreaking to know that more than a third of this metropolis live in
makeshift houses called slums - without hope and living in darkness.
Approximately 25 lakh souls inhabit the 'valley of neglect'. Without proper
education, sanitation and other basic needs, these underprivileged lot indulge in gambling, drinking, drug addiction, adultery, idol worship, black
magic, quarrel, murders and many other cruel habits. Uncared for these precious souls slowly drift
towards hell through the ever open gate.
COME - THE PIONEERING MISSIONARY MOVEMENT
To save the multitudes from the gate of hell
and lead them towards the Light (Jesus),
COME (Christian Outreach for Mission and Evangelism) was born in June, 1988. The
Lord Himself
being the founder, COME has been tirelessly pressing its cherished dreams. COME
is not a Church;
it is an arm of the Church. It is a Charitable Trust registered with the Govt.
of India.
COME AND THE LORD'S MIRACLES DURING THE PAST 12 YEARS
Started with just one missionary in 1988, now 33
full time missionaries and honorary
workers carryout this wonderful will of the Lord among 32 slums in
chennai city, 4 slums in coimbatore city and 6 slums in
Ludiana city and we are planning to expand our fields in these areas,
Nagpur(Maharashtra), Hyderabad(Andhra Pradesh), Bangalore(Karnataka) and
Madurai(Chennai). Through the miracles of our loving Lord, hundreds had been
liberated from drug addiction, immortal lifestyles, witchcraft and many other
evil ways. Many hands once carrying sharp edged weapons, are now carrying the
Holy Bibles. What a tremendous change it is! We praise God for His wonderous
works!
